Machine Technical Reports

Servers

  • We have at least 4 to 7 servers that are not doing anything that we want to get doing stuff.

    • XYZ, Wobbegong, 2 dells to become backup servers.
    • All backups will go to on-campus dell. every night the on-campus dell will send a copy of itself to the off-site dell.
    • Still havent decided what to do with Wobbegong cluster.
      • Since they are bare metal one could eventually become a shell cluster to replace motsugo.

  • Michael pcadmin donated a (fairly) new server from ~2019.

    • Contender to be a new VM host.
    • We could retire some of the older ones.
    • Hopefully we can condense everything down to one server rack.

Network

  • Nothing to report.

Desktops

  • Carpsucker is broken.
    • There is an issue with its network.
    • We will probably do a reinstall of everything on it and hopefully it fixes itself.

Miscellaneous

New Equipment

Drinks and Snacks

  • [GPO] got some Solo and Lemonade.

  • [CAS] got some Coke.

  • [NYX] sent a photo of some Costco drinks and snacks cost per unit on the discord.

    • Has been pinned in #committee.

    • Red rock deli pack 60c/ea or Smiths 33c/ea

      • Smiths are cheaper.

    • Milo bars and Mars bars but they are Chocolate so they will melt.

      • Too early in the year for melty snacks.

    • Also have skittles (they have sold well before).

    • We have enough noodles already but at least it's real food. They also don't go off very fast.

      • We are running out of migoreng.
      • But there is almost always a good deal for it at spudshed

    • Still have a few packs of hello panda left.

    • We never need to buy redbull we can get it for free.

    • Coke is 93c at Costco consistently as opposed to inconsistenly from Woolies/Coles.

    • Pepsi is 77c/ea, we could start stocking it as well.

    • Miso soup sachets ~25c/ea

      • Need to find somewhere with decent shipping.
      • Coles sells for ~28c/ea

    • Kirks variety pack, but we don't get enough of each one so we'd have to make it's own gacha slot.

      • Could just go out and get 10 packs of the various Kirks drinks.
      • We probably shouldn't start making Gacha slots of we don't have to

    • New committee can look for creaming soda.

    • Do we want two lemon drinks (Solo and Lemonade) or Pepsi and Coke.

  • Still don't have a final budget yet.
    • It is still being talked about and changed.
    • Doesn't mention UCC door money, so new budget needs to be approved.

Learn2Linux

  • Went well. :thumbsup:

  • A couple of new people showed up.

    • Slightly less new people than last year.
      • Didn't do as much advertising this year and forgot to do a day-of announcement.

  • Room was still pretty full.

  • There was an UniSFA's AGM in the loft at the same time which was loud.

  • Rest in Peace VM.

  • Slides have been posted on GitHub.

  • We should get a lapel mic pack and connect it to Eggman.

    • Could record through OBS.

AGM

  • Happening tomorrow 2pm.

    • COMMITTEE MAKE SURE TO DO REPORTS -[KKZ]
    • [GPO] needs updated financial statement.

  • Need to collect keys, bring them to Guild Council Room.

50th Anniversary

  • At the tech meeting it was recomended we raise money to upgrade Loveday or the pcs that aren't Christmas, Piranha or Carpsucker.

    • [BLU] asked wheel what we need for upgrading. Loveday or the PCS. Subcom choose one of them.
      • Also 15 year anniversary of Loveday's namesake's death.

  • May need to rethink t-shirt design commpetition timeline.

    • We may need to extend the period for designing.
      • Also for voting probably.
      • Half of sem1 for designing, half for voting. Then send off designs mid year holidays.
      • Need to update the announcements and posters.
    • Original idea was to finish voting off at Charity Vigil.
    • Should make a poster and put it up in the clubroom.

  • University Club.

    • The rates we were given were the discounted rates.

    • Two course meal $3800 /Three course meal $4300 (for 50 people).

    • Reached out for a quote for a larger room.

    • Will ask about minors in attendance.

    • New subcom should include new commitee members.

      • Could end up with non-committee on the subcom anyway.
      • Chair should probably be on committee.

    • There is a 50th anniversary open discussion channel on Discord.

  • [BLU] has been designing some stickers.

    • Other people can submit some if they like.
    • Need to decide on manufacturer.
    • Want to sell stickers by sem2 but preferably ASAP.
    • Week 6 vote on designs/get quotes for designs.
