[MRD] and [BOB] already did them (and memberdb too) - Added a horrendous crontab line for those weekly meeting reminder emails. - Currently commented out in root's crontab for future (ab)use. - Since I won't be at the meeting: - My thanks to [BOB] and [MRD] for snack and drinks runs. - Massive thanks to [BOB] for work on medico and the virtualisation infrastructure as a whole. - Spending a couple of hundred dollars on a vacuum cleaner is a good idea. - Clubroom cleanup: Good, do it. Any weekend is fine with enough notice. - Arrrg loft. Fresher Rep's Report -------------------- - I am not sure but I think the only freshers who have been in during the holidays have been [SAS] and I. - This is entirely speculation of course - Other opinions on things - Holidays have been pretty good - Drinks are nice (that Screaming Soda) - The clubroom is really hot. Please let us have air conditioning in the new clubroom, oh god. - The freshers can be likened to the elusive Sasquatch. - No one's seen them but we are pretty sure they live in the woods, wandering lost for all eternity. - Many search for them but they fall further and further into myth with each passing moment and uhh... - I lost track of that analogy. - I'm if we could catch them they'd say that they are pretty content with their life choices. - Looking forward to next year and a whole bunch of new freshers. - I would like to be more involved in mentoring 2013's fresher rep than previous year's fresher reps have been in mentoring their successors. - I'm sure Loft Progress Report -------------------- - [*OX] laughs mournfully. - We recieved an email from the Tenancy Committee Chair - She doesn't seem in favour of it. - According to Cam Barnes, she hadn't actually read the proposal. - It'll probably be bogged down in Tenancy and Clubroom Allocation committees. - A decision will be made "quickly" - We should start a sponsorship drive now! - Let's get on this. OCM Reports -------------------- [*OX] - Has done none of the things he said he'd do. - But made damper, yay! - [BOB] makes inappropriate comments. - Has had an idea, see general business. - See the final item in general business. - Hint: it's about the Artifactory. [M12] - Makes no apologies for having to elarn how to use Vi for this very adgenda... - Will be less shit next time - Have done (a small amount of) work on fresher induction stuff - would like help from [JAB] and other members to make it completely accurate and seriously useful (and not just the stuff I didn;t know at first) - We should work on that at one or more fresher guide writing nights, etc. - Allegedly stuff on the wiki - Would personally like to thank Microsoft for making Windows 8 a MASSIVE step backwards from Win7, now people will upgrade to Macs! (TROLOLOLOLOLOL) [GOZ] - Not much to say. - Do have access to a map plotter - Besides that, done basically nothing because it is a pain to get here. - [BOB]: Learn to teleport better. Machine Technical Reports ------------------------- Servers - [BOB] got sick of waiting and set up Proxmox on Medico. See http://wiki.ucc.asn.au/Proxmox for more info. Any member can have a VM! Just ask wheel - Mussel went down several times for assorted reasons (none of them hardware, mostly [BOB]'s fault) - Heathred has a loat of load from stupid amounts of minecraft. - Bingbot is f***ing stupid, DDOSing us. - We should contact them. - Maybe they don't like linux. Network - DHCP Issues fixed by [TPG], [BOB] and [DAA] - Was caused by STP being enabled on clubroom ports - DHCP issues were unfixed for unknown reasons. The network is rebelling! - Will blame bing. Desktops - [BOB] - Cabellera is inoperative. The machine was a complete waste of money unless we're going to put a working graphics card in it. - Might look at Xorg on saturday. - The Samsung screen on combtail broke. It's still under warranty! Has been sent to Samsung for repairs (and Samsung's warranty repair process is AWESOME for the record) - Kalashnikov is without a screen as a result - Cichlid + Characid are sort of sucky - Should we upgrade one and/or both. - And pinball could use some love, too. - There is much writing on the whiteboard. - It is decided: - Replace pinball with a machine made from Cichlid and Characid's bits. - Use [TRS]'s box + new stuff to replace Cichlid - Looking for ~$700 budget - Use Characid's gfx card (a GTX465?) + new stuff. - Similarly looking at $700 + donations. - [BOB] reinstalled OpenSUSE on clownfish with help from [SLX]. All working. - Thinterms are ??? - We will fix them, then leave them alone. - Hopefully virtualizing meersau will make them faster and more stable. - Need to make some effort to get all machines working before the start of semester Appliances - The lid hinge on Neon (the Kyocera printer) snapped when [BOB] opened the lid. Printers hate [BOB] - Air conditioners are leaky. New equipment - We got a Glee "video camera" for $10. It shoots 720x480 and is allegedly stylish. - Got some new lc-lc fibre cables - [BOB] donated a bag of shit. Drinks and Snacks ----------------- - [MRD] did a snacks run - [BOB] did a drinks run - The appletiser cans don't work with the small can adapter for some reason. Don't put them in for now, [BOB] will make another adapter that fixes the issue - We need more snacks. Mail, Guild and SOC ------------------- - [DTK] last checked the mail the day the Guild closed for the year, Wednesday the 19th. We have received stuff since last meeting; a phone bill and much junk mail was dealt with accordingly. - [BOB] checked the mail 20130107 when the Guild opened for the year. That's pretty cool. - It is decided after much shouting to get the free chairs, and revisit the others if they prove unsuitable. - [M12] threatens to hire a f***ing truck to pick up the free Chevron chairs. - spartan threatens to f***ing drive it - Trucks are about ~$80 or so. - Or you can buy some wood from Bunnings, get the free truck hire and use the wood to rebuild to machine room. - We can give them away for free with camp tickets if they suck. - [M12], [BOB] and [CJS] will go in their own vehicles and pick them up tomorrow. - [BOB] : purchase of a new vacuum cleaner - [BOB] moves that we spend "100 million dollars" on a vacuum cleaner. - No one seconds. - It is suggested that we get a really good one and charge unisfa for use of it. - It is further suggested that we sell the old vacuum cleaner bags to unisfa (in the snack machine), as their machine allegedly takes the same bags. - [EDO] moves that we budget $300 for the best vacuum cleaner possible. - [TPG] seconds.
