President's Report

- Nothing to report.


Vice-President's Report

- Two thirds of my lectures are over.
- Fuck yeah, Oktoberfest!
- Spoke to Michael Neville, is completely on our side about getting student priced AARNET traffic.


Secretary's Report
------------------
- We have mail, see Mail Guild and SOC.
- I've been busy with my 5 assignments.


Fresher Rep's Report

- Freshers are happy.
- For a change, I actually have nothing to say.


Machine Technical Reports
-------------------------
Servers:
- Surprise RCD testing occurred on Tuesday 29th September at around 18:30 without any warning.
 - All machines in UCC were shutdown because of this.
  - madako came back up without networking and the freenets list was broken for some time.
  - The VMs on mermaid did not come back up upon reboot so they were broken for a while too.
 - The RCD will be replaced on Wednesday 7th October so be prepared for more downtime.
 - The electrician recommended that we clean up the cabling in the machine room.
 - In response [FEL] has equipped the machine room with a UPS, see New Equipment for more information.

Treasurer's Report

- Current balance is $2818.50.

Machine Technical Reports Continued
-----------------------------------
Network:
- [M12] has noticed that the WiFi reception in the Tav has been poor recently.
- The network went down as per RCD testing incident above.

Desktops:
- User logins on Mandriva on curdane worked briefly until the system was upgraded.

Appliances:
- judean's hot air output was unscrewed so was venting hot air into the machine room, this has been fixed, thanks [FEL] and [CJS].
 - Please be careful around judean because it is our primary heat extraction device.
- Snack and coke machine were both down briefly as per RCD incident above.

New Equipment:
- Nothing to report.

Mitch's New Equipment:
- [FEL] acquired a 3kVA UPS for the machine room.


Drinks and Snacks
-----------------
- [DJA] loudly declares that coke group is lazy.
 - The coke machine was empty so [RVS] and [DJA] refilled it.


Surprise General Business
-------------------------
- Some rambling discussion about mirroring home directories offsite so members can still access their files when systems are down.


Mail, Guild and SOC
-------------------
- Still no date for future SOC meeting.
- Had one bill for AARNET traffic for $426.34.
