The competition will be on the 2nd, we need to do more advertising. [GMB] can convince lots of IT people to come, but they want to be able to use DirectX. * Has been slack. [GMB] meant to talk to the Tav about the Quiz Night, but the [fscking] sleepout thing keeps clashing - you can quote him on that. * Rang around campsites. We could have got something if we'd called 4 weeks ago. Maybe we can organise something for the end of the year. We could get drunk at the Scout's camp - they have a rifle range. Weekend after the exams? [BEN] proposes going in a group to get gun lisences. Vice President's Report: * I am Vice President. * Emailed Shay about Mac monitors. Haven't heard back yet. Also looked around on the internet, couldn't find anything useful. * Keys - meant to email [MEL]. Treasurer's Report: * [YAK] hasn't done anything because he's been out of the country. * Brought back lots of CD's. Lots of Linux distributions that we can install/let people use. Secretary's Report: * Some snapper wouldn't let [TAZ] do a report. [TAZ] filtered her stuff into other categories. Correspondence Report: * Received 2 statements from the Guild, most of them relating to overdue accounts - some as far back as December last year [TAZ] rants for a bit about the unacceptability of the situation. * Received invoice for phone bill. Someone tried to acces it over the ethernet, but it didn't work. The only problem at the moment seems to be packet loss. * Mussel - to make it more useful, we need to get a version of Win 2k. Apparently we can get an upgrade version from the Guild for ~$70. We could use OS/2 Warp to get a competitive upgrade if all else fails. We can also get development programs cheap. [YAK] M$ is the standard. [GMB] We have lots of people that like Visual C - moves that someone/[GMB] organise lisences for up to $300 for Win 2k. Passed. * [TRS] set up the HP700. It's happy - feeds off morwong. * Poobrown's HDD broke. [TDH] tried to find a replacement HDD. The NeXT black box is missing, it contains 2 x 760 drives. * Door needs fixing. Looks like a serial port problem. We need a better design. [NTU] says we have a better design, but that we should wait for the DEC servers. SOC has been hassling us to fix the door - [MTL] delegated to fix asap. * Mooneye - APT upgraded sendmail without [GMB]'s consent. General Business: * SOC Busy Bee on Sunday. 10am - 1:30pm. SOC will provide a BBQ lunch. We have to provide 2 members to clean clubroom, or we get kicked out. [TAZ] to email a reminder on Friday. Did we forget to book the loft? Relocated to clubroom due to spammy, loud peoplewho say they had the loft booked. [ORU] leaves. [NTU] and [GMB] say they will be our 2 definites for the busy bee, [TRS] and [MST] say they may turn up. Anyone else is also welcome. * Quiz Night - [TAZ] proposes that we have it the 1st weekend after the midsemester break (6th October). [YAK] thinks we should give a jug to the table that gets the best result each round. [TAZ] has organised some sponsorship with Xpress magazine. They've offered a free 10x4 ad ($309), we need to put their logo on our promotional material, and stick their banner up on the night. Ali@Xpress also gave [TAZ] the contact names/details of people at Roadshow, United International Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Bungee West. [TAZ] has rung, and will fax them. [TAZ] moves that we take up Xpress on the newspaper ad. Passed. Will include URL and email (info@ucc). [TAZ] says we can either design our own ad, or they will do it for us - nominates [BEN] to come up with something as he's good with graphic design stuff. [TAZ] will also get Steve to come in and give a presentation to the committee about the Quiz night. * UCC Camp - we should book a campsite for the weekend after exams.
