Minutes of Meeting 25/8/98

Meeting opened 6:15 pm

President's report:
o Sent out a request for donation for the BeBox about 5 mins ago. We need
  to wait for responses before we make a decision about it.
o The Busy Bee happened. Duncan Fletcher has threatened to throw out 
  stuff left in the corridor. Tony Epton will pick up the PDP11 on
  Saturday.
o We need to check the budget allocations at Guild Admin.

Treasurer's report:
o Banked $358 this week.
o Balance of $997.39 in Savings Account
o Still to pay - Aarnet bill $231.98
               - Nick for FAL run: $431.10

Machine reports:
o Starfish is still in limbo
o ELCs likewise
o We have 3 80-100MB SCSI HDDs lying around
o 2 vaxes - 1 has an OS, the other doesn't. 1 is MIB.
o Mikolaj did backups of dagon
o We have a HP

General Business:
o TISC have bought a 4 way switch (one VGA monitor, one keyboard for four boxes
  etc.).
  It only cost ~ $63. Something like that would be _very_ useful for the
  machine room. Cables are under $5 each. It would cost us about $100.
  The switch is available from Zeus Technology
o PGW will talk to Phil Cummings about money for the Be when we have more
  pledges.
o UCC 24th - need to think of a place to hold it.
  Suggestions so far: Sizzler
                      Lone Star
  Can't book either of those, so would have to pick a non busy night.
  PGW will phone a number of different places and get prices etc, then 
  send info to the list for their opinions, and ask what events they want
  on the night, and any other suggestions.
o Merchandising
  - sticker templates in SGCs pigeon hole.
  - SGC still has mug suggestions from last year
