- Has been recieving a lot of emails from diffent places

- Looked into putting Panadol in the vending machine
- We can, with some provisions;
- We sell it in the original manufacturer packaging, and;
- Panadol is supplied not containing more than 2 adult doses
- This is pretty hard to aquire
- On the plus side, I learned about a bunch of other medicines we can put in;
- Nicotine (again, no more than two adult doses)
- As long as it's not being used as an aid to quit smoking (?)

- It's because he had League of Legends installed on his profile, the dummy
- He probably logs in faster now

- Recieved an email, forwarded by UWA IT, initially from AusCERT
- Heathred had an innapropriately open port, TCP 5353 (mDNS)
- Port blocked, all good
- UWA IT are a bit jumpy
- "heathred.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au(130.95.13.66) is being ABUSED as a traffic
amplifier for distributed denial-of-service attacks against our own or
third party infrastructure"

3D Printer
----------
- Maybe partially dead
- [LDT] has been trailblazing 3D printing for the club, setting up wiki etc.
- Bought some new colours/kinds of filament to test printing with
- One of these was "aluminium filament"
- Very sure it's not actually aluminium, despite what the packaging says
- It is definitely for 3D printing
- After googling, seems to be PLA plastic with 30% aluminium powder added
- Should be perfectly fine to use
- [BLZ] thinks its actually 50%
- [LDT] tried a cold pull to insert the "aluminium" spool, initially
- Consists of inserting a new filament
- Heating it up to a high temp
- Cooling it to a fairly low temperature
- Then yanking on it
- Consequences: Failed to retrieve the old filament and the new filament became stuck
- Won't budge more than 2 millimetres
- The new filament is only about 20% down the hot-end
- Doubly baffling as to why it wont come out
- [LDT] has tried everything that he can do, that wouldn't void the warranty
- [LDT] tried removing the hot-end tip
- Failed but verified there is still old filament jammed in this system
- Tried just melting it out - increasing temp and letting it run
- Didn't run
- Tried one more cold pull, more forcefully
- Filament snapped just above extrusion gear
- No longer have any leverage on filament inside
- Unless we dissasemble the printhead
- And even then it's only 2 cms to work with
- Stuff seen suggested from here
- Take out the entire print head, dissasemble it as much as possible
- Put all the parts in an oven at 210 C
- CONS: Dissasembling the printhead any further than tried will void warranty
- It will also not work quite as well ever again
- Has some seals that are only semi-reversible
- It might be worth experimenting with another technique;
- Use a heated wire or a drill to excavate the interior, with the hot-end detached
- Not even confirmed definitely an aluminium filament problem
- But new filament shouldn't have got this stuck
- [LDT]: Actually baffling
- The part of it that's actually dead is the "hot-end"
- The hot-end already had other problems, apparently
- Problem before this happened:
- The filament ran past the extrusion gear, meaning that the gear has no traction
- This was bad, but there are established ways to fix this
- Simply replacing the hot-end will 100% fix the printer
- Getting a new hot-end is $75
- What we haven't done:
- Haven't sent a formal support ticket to Printr bot people
- Requires our order number
- [JDN]: Should be in committee docs 2015
- We might be able to get a new printhead/have them fix it for free
- In general, there's a few more things that can be done if we dissasemble
- Waiting for committee's opinion on the situation
- Also, should probably just try all of the troublehooting again
- No apparent cause for issues

- He was looking into using UCC to host MARKAM's club website

- Short answer - said Yes, we'd host their website
- Long answer - explained how current UCC members have their own subdomain
- Basically said we can easily give MARKAM the same thing
- Mentioned some other stuff too, they wanted email-hosting too
- They also were wondering how the site would be managed - VPS or web control panel
- UCC would like to host their website
- Providing services like this make us valuable in the eyes of the Uni and Guild
