We organised a room, and it's not been turned into an official CIIPS conference. Looks like we'll get lots of lecturers and tech contacts going, hopefully we'll get some UCCans going. We need someone to kidnap [AHC], he's apparently notorious for not being up before 11am. [MTL] and [BEN] arrive. Vice President's Report: * Met with [MEL] yesterday. Now in possession of Cameron Hall, machine room, clubroom and cashbox keys. * No response from Generation Mac yet, will mail again. Treasurer's Report: * Being unaware of [MST]'s repossession of keys, [YAK] spoke to the Guild. They expressed concern that someone who was no longer a committee member was in possession of keys, and informed [YAK] that the locks throughout Cameron Hall may need to be changed. This could potentially cost $1000s. If [MEL] couldn't locate keys, they were threatening to send nasty letters to her. [relocation to UniSFA] [DUC] arrives. Secretary's Report: * Spoke to Ali from Xpress, reconfirmed date for Quiz Night. [BEN] is sick, and would rather someone else design an ad for Xpress, can someone nice, preferably good at graphicy type stuff please volunteer? [BRQ] offers his services, whilst admitting that he's really bad at graphics. * [TAZ] says she had other stuff to say, but has since forgotten it. Correspondence Report: * Statement from the Uni for $105 - didn't we already pay that? * Bank Account statement, we have $3600. * Received ABN * Received Copy Shop statement for $25.40 * [GMB] received a letter from Darling Ranges Adventure Camp. * Received spam from the Tax department (Tax Essentials) * Received General Marketing spam. Machine Report: * Mermaid was fscked - it's power supply was too hot. [GMB] fiddled with it and claims that it has the most hideous case. * [TIE] donated a broken UPS. * Mooneye has been up and down a bit. It's up now. * We'll clean the machine room next weekend. [GMB] The SUN fell on my head. * Should buy more switches. 10mb for xterms? * We got our computer back from Froggy. [YAK] we need to fix router stupidity. General Business: * Camp - [GMB] rang many places. Lots were booked. Darling Ranges Adventure Camp is available. Has been tentatively booked for the first weekend after exams are officially over. Cost - $12.50 per night, per person. Minimum $375/night (30 people). If we go Friday night, Saturday night and leave mid Sunday afternoon, they'll only charge us for 2 days. We'll need to pay a $200 deposit. [GMB] moves that we have a camp, and that we pay with a $200 cheque. [MST] seconds. Passed without dissent. * Seminar - Do we have to do anything? EE is doing a pretty good job advertising it. We might want to run around sticking up a few posters with UCC logos on them. [TAZ] emailed it to the CS lists. [AHC] wants to use Magic Point. [GMB] can put it on mussel and take it over if they have a projector. [GMB] will look into it. * Machine room - Do we want to have a policy on having other people's machines in there? Could make people sign a paper saying they take responsibility for traffic and any actions taken on their machines whilst on our network. [YAK] will raise it with the Kabal about how rcpt.to want to pay for their traffic. Rcpt.to traffic has apparently reduced recently due to people moving things elsewhere. UCS have fscked up and charged us for WAIX traffic. [DUC] will fix. [ORU] has given us costs per IP, so we can track costs. * We could move the machine room door to the other side, but it might be inconvenient. [MST] Barr fat people from there! [YAK] And put all the good machines down there. * The reason we had the machine room in the first place was because we had big, noisy machines, not so much because stuff was being ripped off. We'll clean up the machine room next weekend and then re-assess what we want to do with it. * Sleepout - PAC is putting $200 into our account. We need to grab people to put a hub/networking in the loft for LAN games. Participants must have minimum $5 sponsorship, or pay $8 entry. We have beaten Froggy down from wanting to make a profit from it. * Programming Competition 2 - Organise well in advance so we can give people more than 4 days notice. Maybe have pre-registration. Could hold it at the camp. [GMB], [MST], [ANT], [DUC] and [CMG] leave. * 26th Anniversary - [TAZ] suggests that we could hold one at University Asian Restaurant. The guy there will put together a menu for us once we tell him ~how much we want to spend per person/how many people we expect/how much we want to spend in total etc. [TDH] says we've had it there before. [TAZ] moves that we have the 26th at University Asian. [TRS] seconds. Passed by majority. * Rivercruise - [TAZ] proposes some sort of semi-formal UCC event, as we don't currently have anything like that. [YAK] is also looking to hold some sort of event as a farewell, might be interested in doing something. Concerns are that we might not have a huge turn out for a rivercruise, but [TAZ] will get prices, and then scope out interest thru the UCC list. If there isn't much interest, we'll scrap the idea for now. Meeting closed 6:43pm.
